Move through a snow-service guide

Use Tab to advance through links and controls, and Shift+Tab to move backward. The first navigation link skips to the main content. A visible focus indicator helps identify the selected control. Activate a focused link with Enter. These controls let you move from a town’s winter rules to the relevant driveway, walkway or hauling guidance without using a mouse.

On a narrow screen, the Menu button opens the primary navigation. Its expanded state is exposed to assistive technology. Opening the menu should make the same service, area, resource and request destinations available as the wider layout. If activation changes the button’s state but leaves the links unavailable, include that distinction in a barrier report; the button and the resulting navigation are different parts of the interaction.

Documents use a main heading followed by section headings. Screen-reader heading navigation can help locate a particular town restriction, published cost example or work checklist. Links to another guide identify the task or place rather than relying only on a direction such as “click here.” Images carrying information need equivalent descriptions; decorative material should not interrupt the reading order.

Read cost tables and diagrams

The price-comparison tables use table markup and header cells. Follow the billing unit as well as the dollar amount: a seasonal contract, an hourly loader example and a visit price describe different purchases. On a narrow display, a wide table can scroll within its own container. If a header is missing from the spoken table navigation, identify the table caption and the affected row or column in the report.

The property diagrams illustrate decisions such as access, snow storage and the sequence of work. Their accompanying text carries the practical instructions. A diagram is not a survey, a measured driveway plan or a photograph of a completed job. If its description fails to explain the illustrated decision, name the guide and the diagram so the text equivalent can be reviewed.

Browser enlargement and text resizing should preserve the reading order and access to controls. Resizing text to 200% without losing content or functionality is one of the goals described in WCAG 2.1, criterion 1.4.4, subject to that criterion’s exceptions. That is a design goal here, not a claim that every device and browser combination has been independently tested. Report clipped labels, missing buttons or text that becomes inaccessible when enlarged.

What the quote calculator requires

The calculator needs JavaScript for its arithmetic and copied project summary. Enter a contractor’s offered price per billable visit and a whole number of visits for your comparison scenario. A seasonal amount is optional. The displayed result multiplies the entered price and count; town, slope and surface selections describe the property without generating a local rate.

Inputs have labels, and the result area is marked for announcements when it changes. Assistive technology may announce updates differently depending on its settings. If several announcements interrupt entry, describe which field you changed and which result was repeated. A report saying only that the calculator is difficult to use is less specific than identifying whether focus moved, a value could not be entered or an updated total was not spoken.

The Copy project summary button first tries the browser’s clipboard. If clipboard access is unavailable, the site offers a text-file download. Browser restrictions can affect both methods. Check which action occurred before reporting the problem: nothing copied, a download blocked or a saved file containing an unexpected value. The saved summary should contain your selections and displayed comparison, not a contractor’s acceptance of work.

You can still read the pricing guide and compare written offers without operating the calculator. The request form is another way to describe the property when that form is accessible to you. Submitting it does not create a manually calculated price, guarantee a response interval or reserve a place on a snow route.

Turnstile and the request form

Request verification uses Cloudflare Turnstile, an external service rather than a script hosted entirely by this publisher. It can run without a visual puzzle, but verification may still fail or prevent submission in a particular browser or assistive setup. Describe that failure separately from a missing form label or an error in the property fields. Do not include passwords, medical information or unrelated personal records.

If you can submit the form, begin the message with “Accessibility” and include the address of the affected page, the control’s label, device, browser and step that failed. State the result you expected and what happened instead. A screenshot is optional. Property details or a request number are useful only when they help identify the affected interaction; they are not required to explain a navigation problem.

If Turnstile or another form problem prevents sending that message, the same form cannot serve as a working alternative. An independent accessibility email address or telephone channel is not currently published. That is a known limitation. There is also no published acknowledgement deadline. This statement does not promise a reply within a particular number of business days.

The standard and its limits

WCAG 2.1 Level AA is the stated accessibility goal. The work includes readable contrast, meaningful headings, keyboard access, labeled fields, text alternatives and respect for a reduced-motion preference. Automated checks can identify some defects in those areas, but their results do not establish conformance for every page, browser or assistive technology.

No overlay or accessibility toolbar is supplied. Use your existing screen reader, magnifier, voice control, zoom and operating-system settings. This statement does not describe an overlay as a substitute for correcting the underlying control or content. Report the specific reading or interaction problem so that correction can address the part you were trying to use.

Linked municipal ordinances, state documents and federal resources have their own layouts and controls. Some are scanned PDFs with limited text navigation. Their accessibility is outside this publisher’s control; citing a document does not certify it. The independent contractors who may receive a service request also control their own communications, agreements, vehicles and premises. A website check here does not cover those separate businesses.

Last reviewed October 18, 2026. This statement should be reconsidered when navigation, the form, the calculator or another shared interaction changes, and when a reported barrier identifies an inaccurate description. It records the present controls, goals and known limitations rather than a fixed calendar review schedule or a legal guarantee.
